What is Sports Massage?
It is a combination of massage techniques, acupressure and remedial exercises. Suitable for injury prevention, minor injuries and ailments that may serious effect a person’s occupation, sport or quality of life.
Identifying ‘Trigger Points’ (nodules). The creation of ‘Trigger Points’ came about in activities and events like accidents, over use, stress and strains, bad posture and over loading, which constitute to the abuse of our muscles. ‘Trigger Points’ are caused by working a group of muscles beyond their endurance span or compensating when other areas are already dysfunctional. Muscles become over contracted or over stretched which will undeniably cause ‘Trigger Points’. Working on ‘Trigger Points’ can mean the difference between dysfunction and functional.
How is Sports Massage given?
Depending on the ailment or injury I may need you to remove partial clothing. Whilst working on the relevant area, only a minimal exposure is required. I will of course provide large towels so you feel comfortable at all times. I can either deliver your treatment on my portable therapist couch, my massage chair or if necessary your own arm chair.
